FAQ
Top Frequently Asked Questions
The single most frequently asked question is: What should I do, New Racer’s School or RWYB?
Here are some helpful information to make the decision making easier:
I understand that you are not a licensed racer. In order to race with a club racing organization like MWGP you need to have a race license. This can be a license issued by us or issues by another organization like CVMA, AFM, WERA and many other race organizations. If you have never race before and don’t have a race license you will have to take the New Racer’s School which will take place on all Saturdays of our race weekends. Please check the calendar for dates
The fee for NRS is $125 (plus $25 mandatory safety advancement fee, a total of $150)
What do you do during the NRS? You will be meeting with your instructor that day and go over the curriculum of the class. You will be doing drills on the track which will include several practice sessions and your skill level will be evaluated. You will be shown correct lines, correct way to enter and exit the track and great passing sections on the track, along with many other helpful tips. You will have class discussions with your instructor to go over the practice sessions. You will then be given a time limit under which you will need to complete one or two laps (at the instructor’s discretion) without crashing and upon successful completion of the NRS course you will be issued a MWGP race license.
At this point you are done with the NRS and are a licensed MWGP Novice Racer. Congratulations!!!
You have the option to:
1. Enter your very first Novice race immediately after NRS. The requirement for this step is a fully safety wired race bike. (rules are outlined in rule book) Your first Novice race fee is included in your NRS fee of $125.
2. You also have the option to race on Sunday in your 2nd Novice race if you desire. The fee for your 2nd race on Sunday will be $60 with preregistration ($65 post registration). You will have complimentary practice sessions on Sunday morning.
3. Additional 3rd option is you DO NOT participate in NRS for your race license. You are not sure if you want to commit to racing and would like to test the waters. In this case you can bring your street legal bike to our event and participate in the Run What Ya Brung Race (and Saturday Practice) on Saturday. The fee for RWYB race and practice is $125 (plus $25 mandatory safety advancement fee). You are NOT required to have a race license or safety wiring and you can enter the race in the afternoon after your practice sessions on Saturday. However, your kickstand needs to be taken off, your drain plug and your oil filter needs to be safety wired as a minimum safety compliance.
As you see, we have covered all the bases for any new or aspiring racer to come out, get a little taste and go racing. Simple and easy.
